Then and Now

At Christmas time we often look back in time, reflecting on good memories, and gaze through the old photo albums. Recently, my sister shared a picture that my father took of me and my mother when I was very young. For Christmas one of my gifts was a toy piano, and the simple tones that came as I hit the keys was the start of a life filled with music to one degree or another at different phases in my life.

A few months ago I began accompanying my Church choir as they were beginning to rehearse Christmas music. My practice sessions increased dramatically in length and focus, and in a few days Christmas will be here. The choir, under the direction of Melodie Gren, has increased in numbers and quality, and they sing so beautifully. I am excited to accompany them and would like to invite everyone to our Church service. My parents aren’t with us anymore, having passed on into the spirit world, but if they were here, I think they would be happy to see their little girl still playing the piano.
